Dr. Jeanne Tiehen is a researcher, educator, published author, and theatre practitioner. 

Jeanne joined University College Dublin as a Lecturer/Assistant Professor of Theatre, Drama, & Performance Studies in January 2023. Previously, she was Assistant Professor and Artistic Director at Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania and Assistant Professor and Director of Theatre at Wayne State College in Nebraska. She graduated with her Ph.D. and M.A. in Theatre Studies from the University of Kansas where she served as Managing Editor for the
Journal of Dramatic Theory and Criticism. She graduated
summa cum laude with a B.F.A. in Theatre Performance from Creighton University. In 2021, her book The Theatre of Nuclear Science: Weapons, Power, and the Scientists Behind It All was published with Routledge. Dr. Tiehen is currently working on her second monograph with Routledge, The Monsters We Become: Performing Monsters on Stage, Screen, and Beyond. She has directed several theatre productions and performed many roles using her training in Stanislavskian and Michael Chekhov technique. She also started Monstrous Woman Productions to create and produce original works, including Climate Terror: A Haunted Attraction a one night haunted tour that utilizes horror characters to critique our response to climate change, planned for Fall 2025 at UCD.

Jeanne has also worked as a Behavioral Profile Analyst at Noll Human Resources, as an Assistant Teacher in a Montessori school, was a member of a repertory theatre company in Detroit, and worked at the Omaha Children's Museum.

RECENT EVENTS
  • Presented "Dracula: An Acting Role to Kill For" at Dracula: A Conference and Celebration in May 2025. (Pictured below, and yes I mask because monsters should be scary, not the air we breathe). ​
  • Attended IFTR in June, 2025 in Cologne, Germany with the Working Group - Performance Economies.
